As one of the oldest parishes in Scotland the village of Stonehouse has a long and eventful history. This history is entrusted to the inhabitants of the village through individuals and organisations such as Stonehouse Heritage Group, established in 1991. This group aims to promote, protect, preserve and record the historical, archeological and natural environment of Stonehouse for others to learn and benefit from. The publications available here have been written by local amateur historian John Young to provide residents, visitors and descendants with a comprehensive knowledge of Stonehouse in celebrating the village's history. As well as these personal publications a number of other publications are available from the Heritage Group. Click on the publication you are interested in or contact us for more information...
